"By his wounds you were healed" World Day of the Sick (February 11, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes )
's Feb. 11 marks the nineteenth day. The theme is part of a three-year course of pastoral planning "Educating for life in the fragility. Challenge and a prophecy for Health Pastoral Care, "Pastoral Guidelines on the basis of the CEI for the next decade," Educating for the good life of the Gospel. "
From the Message of Benedict XVI for the 19th World Day of the Sick (February 11, 2011):
Each year, the anniversary of the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, which is celebrated on 11 February, the Church proposes for the World Day of the Sick. That fact, as he wanted the venerable Pope John Paul II, becomes a favorable opportunity to reflect on the mystery of suffering and, above all, to make it more responsive to our community and civil society to those who are and sisters who are sick. If every man is our brother, the more the weak, the suffering and in need of care must be the focus of our attention, because none of them feel forgotten or marginalized, because "the measure of humanity is essentially determined in relationship with suffering and the sufferer. This applies to the individual and for society. A society unable to accept its suffering members and incapable of contributing through compassion to ensure that the suffering is shared and bear it inwardly is a cruel and inhuman society "(Encyclical Letter. Spe Salvi, 38). The initiatives will be promoted in each diocese on the occasion of this Day, to be an incentive to make more effective care for the suffering, a view also in a solemn celebration, which will take place in 2013, the Marian Shrine of Altoetting, Germany.
