Catechesis and liturgy of our parish community is, from year to year, enriched by the presence of religious and seminarians also belonging to reality "external" to the parish is the case of French seminarians (this year, Emmanuel and Thomas) from the French seminary near the Pantheon. They recently published their report in a very positive opinion of their pastoral experience that they are doing to us and we asked to translate for us.
Friday evening, 17 hours: in the heart of Monteverde, under the amused gaze of fifty mothers, 150 children run around, gesticulating and waving to passing the trampoline soccer. This we find in this little place of Trastevere is neither the annual celebration of the neighborhood, nor the training ground of Rome, but simply an afternoon catechism in the parish of Regina Pacis. By entering this oratorio a shrill voice greets us: "O mes amis français, Bonjouuur." This is
warm greeting from Don Livio, the pastor, who are committed to lighting the fire in the yard to prepare for the chestnut festival, organized for the following Sunday. Some child wonder at the flame that is burning his pastor. The impression is immediate: in this parish, it feels a family.
Moments later, the same voice echoes from a speaker, "the boys in the catechism of the primary are expected to church." All meetings of the catechism in fact a quarter of an hour of prayer in the parish church. Book in hand, the children sing with enthusiasm, then listen carefully to a few simple words that Don Livio's targets. Once the prayer, the children gather around their catechist to go in their classroom one hour meeting. If the beginning it seemed a dream, the illusion is quickly dispelled considered the noise that can quickly reign in some rooms. It is therefore necessary to curb the excessive enthusiasm of these young friends. However we are very happy for everything that was taught.
Back in the parish on Sunday morning, mainly for the Mass of 10.30, which is always a large number of people. Many families, youth groups and scouts come together. The joy of Sunday is not limited to the liturgical celebration, but continues with the inevitable in the oratory of the boys soccer game, time that allows parents to meet together to chat, waiting to meet the parish movie for the show in the afternoon. On Sunday is the tip of the iceberg: the week is developed through many activities.
is therefore a good grace to live, week after week, the pace of this parish, the true heart of this neighborhood. For all that it offers for the soul, spirit and body, Regina Pacis gives us a fine example of "integral human development."
